Author: Kyria d'Oreyn
Avene Sahera is a Kandori woman who receives the Tower's bounty of one hundred gold crowns during the Aiel War in the "New Spring" novel. Her name was written down, even though her son, Migel, was born thirty miles away from Dragonmount and a whole week before Gitara Moroso Sedai's Foretelling, which Moiraine thinks is more than careless.
Avene is described as a plump, graying woman, wearing a silver-mounted, foot-long dagger at her worked leather belt and a bright red blouse with yellow embroidery on the sleeves.
She is mother to ten children and lives in a village called Ravinda, where she funds the construction of an inn with the Tower's bounty.

- At first Moiraine only had the information that she was living in "a village on the high road between Chachin and Canluum" (NS, Ch. 17)
- Moiraine wanted to look for her on her way to Canluum (NS, Ch. 18) and did so in every village she passed after Manala (NS, Ch. 21).
- In Manala, a small Kandori town, she received the information that some Saheras were living nearby from a woman called Mistress Marishna (NS, Ch. 20).
- Two days from Chachin, in a village called Ravinda, Moiraine finally located Avene Sahera, the very first person she spoke to (NS, Ch. 21).
"You think the sisters might object?", she said, frowning at the sign already carved and painted and hung above the front door, when Moiraine suggested a change in the name. [...] Finally she shook her head. "I can't see why they would, my Lady, the Aes Sedai who took names in our camp was soft-spoken and pleasant." The woman would learn, the first time a sister who cared to reveal herself happened by. (Avene to Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 21)
Avene was a plump, graying woman, with a silver-mounted, foot-long dagger hanging at her worked leather belt and yellow embroidery covering the sleeves of her bright red blouse. Apparently, the bounty had put a touch of feastday into every day for her. (Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 21)
Avene's son Migel - her tenth child! - had been born thirty miles from Dragonmount and a week before Gitara spoke her Foretelling. That sort of carelessness in writing what you heard was intolerable! (Moiraine; New Spring, Chapter 21).
